developing an organic kitchen garden



BREATHE is an experimental project for developing Organic Kitchen Garden. It is located at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya, Panwaliya, Sanganer, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The project has been funded by the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through CIPSEM, Germany, and supported by UNEP, UNESCO and Department of Education, Rajasthan India.

Created a local knowledge source  for organic farming through developing a live organic kitchen garden.

Raised environment awareness  and introduced the concept of growing your own food among 100 students.

Mid-Day Meal

Contributed partially in the Mid-day meal scheme of the Government of India. Around 20% food grown locally in the kitchen garden.

Created a role model school in the District and integrated agricultural practices as extra curricular activity.

Project Report

The guidebook for creating organic kitchen garden at schools has been launched by Joint Director, Department of Education, Rajasthan. This guidebook is a readymade tool for the schools to create the kitchen garden.

The report reached to the management of around 45 Government schools to establish organic kitchen garden in their campus.
